Small Changes With A Big Impact!

Um...I just realized it's almost the end of February and I haven't written anything for y'all!
So what have I been up too? Well besides trying to survive rainy, dreary, sunless, winter days here in Lousiana? I've been living the dream, running two business (with help of course). So we've been super busy around here, but I finally had a free moment to tackle a project at home.
Since I've been getting bored with my living room lately. Yeah I'll own that, it's a little trivial. I usually feel the itch to change things around every few months but especially in the winter. I don't think that will ever change for me. I'm always feeling the need to spruce, and rearrange. I want our home to feel cozy, welcoming and function more efficiently for our needs.

So how did this all come about really? This time it was I needed more seating. I know it's not the most beautiful of chairs (I see a slipcover in her furture), but I'll tell you, it tugged at my heart strings. See my Grandfather had given me one of his old chairs similar to this one. It was a swivel, rocker and I believe it was a soft green. But man was that chair comfy! Like most young people, I got rid of it because I didn't appreciate it at the time. 🤷♀️
All the kids have sat in it already and it's quickly become a spot you'll find a kid or a cat curled up in! So she's a keeper! ❤

Then I got this piece! I traded a piece of furniture with my bestie for this one. Yeah, we totally do that from time to time...lol She didn't think this piece was working in her shop and I had just the right piece she needed! So this lovely came home with me to get a paint job. But while I was out one day, I came home to my husband trying to fit his Transformer "Optimus Prime" on the middle shelf. After asking him why, he told me he liked the hutch and wanted to keep it for his collection. Luckily Optimus didn't fit, at least not without being decapitated. 😂

He even looks a little mad for the inconvenience! 😂🤣
After having a little laugh with him, and once he realized Optimus wouldn't fit, I took a step back and realized I loved the piece where it was. Don't you just love happy accidents! I mean I loved the piece but it was intended for the shop. Now it'll stay in the family and be a piece we'll treasure for years to come.

Once I had the two pieces where I wanted them, I started pulling items from around the house to style them. Luckily I just restyled my built-in bookcases. I was craving a more paired down look so I had some extra decor pieces laying around. So this little area literally cost me $50 dollars and that was just for the chair and ottoman.

Oh and before I forget, I want to recommend Liz Marie Galvan, "Cozy White Cottage", 100 ways to love the feeling of being home. This was on my list to read since, she spilled the beans that she was publishing a book. I love her style, and her book didn't disappoint! I just know you'll love it!

Thank you for following along and taking the time to read my blog! It means the world to me, to share my love of decorating with you! Maybe you won't have to wait another month to read another blog post! If you have any topics you'd like for me to touch on, send me a message and I'll see if I can make it happen! ❤
Lots of love!
